6 Easy Steps To Refill Your Laser Printer Toner

Being a printer owner, I am amazed by the high cost of cartridge prevailing in the market. When we have the option to use the existing toner cartridge for more than six times, then, why to buy a new toner cartridge every time. A fraction of the money spent on refilling can save almost six times the toner cartridge cost. For example, a new Brother HL-L2300D laser printer cost almost $80 on online stores. Its toner cartridge replacement cost you $50, whereas you can acquire printer toner refill at just $5. The difference between $5 and $50 can help you to refill 9 more cartridges.

How to refill can bother anyone, especially newbies. Here, we have some simple and easy step to refill your toner cartridge without much trouble:

Analysis of Toner Cartridge

Almost every printer cartridge has a big hollow space called hopper. It is filled with fine dry powder named toner. The role of the hopper is to transfer the toner to other components that will fix it on paper. But, some printer stopped printing, when ink reaches the minimum level. Even at this stage, you can use the toner cartridge by making fool to the printer. Yes, you can place black tape over a window inside the cartridge, so the printer will not get adequate information for finishing the toner cartridge. Following this will help you to get more printouts.

Take Quality Toner

Next step is to take toner, it will be more preferable to buy toner of the same brand as your printer. Toner comes under the solid form, so, you can store in bottles. Next step is to remove the cartridge from the printer. First, you need to remove all the gears and then pull it out from the printer. Some printers require re-setting before installing. Use the reset button, so that the printer can read the cartridge as new.

Make a Hole on the Cartridge

The next step for refilling involves making a hole on the cartridge. For this, some purchase special equipment or parts. But, there is an easy approach to deal with this issue is to use hot equipment to make a hole in a few seconds. The tool could be an iron rod that can make a round tip on the top of the hopper. Be sure that plastic should not fall into the hopper. You can also use a toothpick to remove the plastic from the hopper. If you feel comfortable, you can also shake the cartridge properly.

Clear the Hopper from the Toner

Even the printer says that cartridge is empty, there is still toner left in it. Simply, shake it, you will get a good amount of toner from the cartridge. If you thinking to mix old and new toner, keep in mind mixing can deteriorate the quality of printing. By using a flashlight you can also check the toner powder. Using own refilling, you can refill the cartridge to the top. This will provide you with maximum printing experience. On the other side, if you buy a new cartridge it will surely not be filled to the very top.

Pour in the Toner

Pouring needs your little more attention. First, you must be taking the old toner out from hopper. Secondly, before addition give some time to the hopper to let the air in. This will help you to get good quality results. In addition, you should also make a small hole on either side of the hopper to let the air in while working.

Keep in mind, while pouring toner, the bottle is a little unpredictable. When it spills, its good to blow it off with your breath. Do not use a wet cloth or water, as water in the hopper is not affordable.

Once you finish with refilling, put a tape in the hole. Write down the date on it, as you will get to know about how long it will last. Never use masking tape, as it's good to use duck tape only.

Reinsert the Cartridge in the Printer

Once your cartridge refilling process is over, now its a time to reinstall the cartridge into the printer. First, you need to gently clean the outer area of the cartridge with a paper towel. Then using the reverse criteria as of removing, fit the cartridge into the printer. Now, give the command to print out. If you found something different or printer unable to accept the command. Just restart it. You will get the same results as of the original printer toner cartridge installed.

Finally,

Refilling is a simple and easy way to save money. If you found difficult in for using cartridge more than six times, you can also acquire used toner cartridge. But it must be in good condition. You can also reach the recycle agencies that buy and sell second-hand cartridges.
